Bosser Nova

Zaxcom has just announced the MRX414 Digital Wireless Receiver Module for the Nova Recorder and the RX-12 and RX-12R Enclosures!

The MRX414 can receive four channels of audio from up to four transmitters using two UHF diversity receivers. It is compatible with any Zaxcom digital transmitter and with all Zaxcom modulations (Mono, Stereo, XR and ZHD). That's a total of eight channels of audio from eight transmitters in a single unit when using both slots!

The MRX414 consumes about the same power of a QRX212 with double the number of receivers and has improved receiving and dynamic ranges.

The modules can be easily added or hot-swapped as necessary. A MRX214 can be upgraded to an MRX414.

Be Zaxcellent to Each Other

Zaxcom just announced three new products: the Nova Recorder, URX100 UHF Receiver, and ZMT3-X Transmitter!

The Nova is a combination mixer, recorder, ZaxNet remote control and wireless receivers in one compact and lightweight device. It can record up to twelve channels of audio to two compact flash cards and has four mic/line NeverClip inputs, two line level balanced inputs, four external AES (of two AES42) inputs, and six analog/AES output buses.

It's scheduled to ship later this summer and retails for $4995.

The URX100 is a multipurpose UHF receiver that can be configured as a camera link receiver, an IFB receiver with walkie talkie interface or a standalone IFB receiver with time code view and delay.

The URXL1 Lanyard will be available separately and adds a tethered control with a push-to-talk button, volume control, and microphone.

Both units are scheduled to ship in late April. The URX100 retails for $895 and the URXL1 is $49.

The ZMT3-X Transmitter adds a larger battery for up to 12 hours of runtime and 48 hours of standby time on a single charge to the features of the standard ZMT3 line, including simultaneous transmission and internal recording with time code, encrypted audio, ZHD modulation, ZaxNet remote control, and NeverClip. It has two Microdot inputs so it can tramsit input from two seperate lavaliers at the same time.

It's scheduled to ship in late April and retails for $1995.

Initial supplies may be limited and will be fulfilled first-come, first-served, so place your pre-order now for earliest delivery!

Bend it like Zaxcom

The Zaxcom ZMT3-Flex adds a soft and durable silicon rubber case to the ZMT3, allowing the transmitter to bend and flex as necessary!

It's designed to keep both your talent and your transmitter safe when recording sports or other potentially high-impact scenarios.

The ZMT3-Flex is extremely lightweight (3 oz, with battery) and compact (4.8" x 1.7" x 0.4").  It has two microdot input connector for use with either a single mono or dual lavalier set-up.

Otherwise, it's got the usual selectable 25/50/75 mW power, 128 db dynamic range with Neverclip, internal time code recording, ZaxNet remote control, encrypted digital modulation, and other great features of the ZMT3 line.

It's expected to start shipping later this month. Initial supplies may be limited - pre-order yours today to ensure earliest delivery!

The Ticking Reblock

The FCC deadline on selling legacy wireless equipment is the end of September. Though you will be able to continue to use older equipment (as long as it complies with legal frequencies and power output), manufacturers will not be able to sell any components that have not been recertified by the FCC, including the components that are necessary for moving your wireless to a different frequency.

Bottom line: if you need your older Lectrosonics or Zaxcom wireless gear reblocked, make arrangements as soon as possible.

Lectrosonics
is already booked through August and they've specified that the following gear will not be able to be reblocked after September: HH, HM, UH, UM400a, and UT. Here's our guide to Lectro reblocking pricing and which frequencies need to be changed.

Zaxcom has not created a specific list, but assume reblocking any of their discontinued wireless products is subject to the same September 30th deadline. Here's our guide to Zaxcom reblocking pricing and which frequencies need to be changed.

The Phantom Twollbooth

The Zaxcom ZMT3-Phantom 2 transmitter offers switchable phantom powering to support both balanced phantom powered microphones as well as compatible unbalanced lavalier microphones, in addition to all the great features of the original ZMT3-Phantom, including multiple modulations, time code, recording to microSD card, and more!

Glenn Sanders came by and showed off the new features of the ZMT3-Phantom 2 and reviewed the system's full capabilities.

It's shipping now and priced the same as the original, so order yours today!

Deva on the March

Glenn Sanders was in Atlanta with the Zaxcom Deva 24 demo unit last weekend and it's looking great! Please remember that things are subject to change before release, so we'll keep you updated.

That said, here are some of the feature highlights:

  • The unit has 40 inputs - 16 analog and 24 AES.

  • The interface uses a more streamlined version of the Deva 5 software, but it's still very Zaxcom.  There may be a small learning curve for the new user, but it looks even easier to use then a Nomad.

  • RX-12-like control.   Control your Tx and Rx frequencies, settings, power roll, etc. from the Deva.  Menu and screen settings look exactly like the RX-12.

  • Post Record:  Like pre record, only after you hit stop

  • Cue Mode: The Deva playbacks Zaxcom transmitter recordings, so you can remix a scene.  It's an improved version of a Deva 5 feature.

  • Track routing is extremely customizable.

  • Initial shipments will not have ZaxNet enabled, since it's pending FCC approval.  When it's approved, there will be no charge for the ZaxNet board and it'll be installable by the end user or a dealer.

  • Dante board option

  • No NP battery slot.

  • Records to (2) CF Cards, (1) ESATA Swap Drive, and (1) Internal SSD.  The internal drive is relatively small out of the box, but upgradable up to 1 TB

  • The intro price for the Deva 24 is expected to be around $12,000 with an anticipated price bump sometime afterwards.

  • The Mix-16 control surface will be in the  $5000-6000 range
