H5Studio Handy Recorder

The H5studio is a six-track handheld recorder designed for professional production with 32-bit float recording, F-series preamps, interchangeable capsule system, included X/Y capsule, and two XLR/TRS inputs.

The H5studio features Zoom F-series preamps, giving your audio unmatched clarity (-127 dBu EIN).  With dual AD converters and 32-bit float, it delivers an impressive 132dB dynamic range, capturing everything without noise or distortion.

Complete Control
32-bit float and 16/24-bit formats each have their advantages. 32-bit float prevents clipping but requires post-production. 16/24-bit eliminates the need for post-processing but requires gain adjustment to prevent clipping.

The H5studio offers the best of both worlds with 32-bit float and dedicated gain knobs—no clipping and no need for post-production.

Six Tracks Up to 192 kHz
The H5studio captures up to six tracks (four iso-tracks plus a stereo mix) with sample rates up to 192 kHz.

Carefully engineered RF shielding keeps interference from smartphones and Wi-Fi routers out of your recordings, anywhere you go.

Advanced Limiters
The H5studio features advanced look-ahead limiters which anticipate potential overloads and prevent distortion before it reaches your track.

The Inputs
The two locking XLR/TRS inputs support +48V phantom power and +4dBu line level. There is also a 3.5mm stereo jack with plug-in power.

Next Generation Capsule System
The H5studio’s 3.0 capsule system is compatible with the SSH-6e and EXH-6e and supports 32-bit float and gives creators more options to use the right mic for their recording.

Waveforms & Levels
Monitor input levels and real-time waveforms with the full color LCD, making it easy to adjust and monitor audio in real time.

The Outputs

Headphone Out
Use the loud 20 mW headphone output to monitor or listen back to your recordings in any environment.

Line Out
Use the 3.5mm stereo LINE OUT to connect directly to a camera, easily syncing your audio and video.

Onboard Speaker
The built-in speaker has a maximum output of 250mW for previewing recordings on the spot.

USB Audio Interface
The H5studio is a 4-in/2-out USB audio interface for Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android, supporting 32-bit float and 16/24-bit recording. Stream live and simultaneously record a backup to microSD.

Sync Smarter
The TCA-1 time code adapter (available separately, ETA Summer 2025) generates and outputs time code or jams to an external clock. You can also receive wireless timecode from the AtomosUltraSync Blue with a TCA-1 or BTA-1.

Wireless control
With the Zoom Handy Control & Sync app for iOS, you can remotely manage multiple Zoom recorders*, control start/stop, and synchronize time code effortlessly.**

*Current compatible models: H2essential, H5studio
** BTA-1 or TCA-1 required.

Premium Features
The H5studio features mono mode for recording interviews, narration, and vocals; low-cut filter to suppress low-frequency noise; normalizing and exporting audio files in 24-bit/16-bit WAV formats; variable speed playback (0.5 to 1.5x) and A-B repeat playback of recorded files; and recording start tone function useful for aligning audio with DSLR video.

Up to 2TB of Storage
The H5studio uses microSDHC/microSDXC cards up to 2TB (sold separately).

Power Up
Operates on 4 AA alkaline batteries for up to 15 hours of recording. Power through the USB port using a USB mobile battery or AC adapter (sold separately: AD-17).

Accessibility
The H5studio is designed with accessibility for the blind and visually impaired. Navigate the menu with audible descriptions through the built-in speaker or headphones. Creators can choose English, Spanish, French, Japanese, German, Italian or Chinese.
