The SMDWB can function either as a wideband transmitter or a bodypack recorder. It features a removable antenna, selectable 25/50/100 mW RF power, line input level select, and RM remote control capability. It tunes across three standard frequency blocks.
The standard TA5 connector with servo-bias mic input is compatible with lavalier microphones wired for other Lectrosonics transmitters with TA5 inputs.
The SMDWB can be configured as either a transmitter or a bodypack recorder. The audio files are recorded to a MicroSD card in the industry standard Broadcast Wave format at 24 bits, 44.1 kHz sample rate. The MicroSD memory card can also be used to update firmware in the field.
An IR port is included to allow for quick setup when using any IR equipped receiver such as the LR, SRc or Venue 2. This allows for easy integration with a larger wireless system using Wireless Designer software for frequency management and system monitoring.
The SMDWB features a large, backlit LCD.
Some versions of this wireless microphone device may operate in portions of the 617-652 MHz or 663-698 MHz frequencies. Beginning in 2017, these frequencies are being transitioned by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to the 600 MHz service to meet increasing demand for wireless broadband services. Users of this device must cease operating on these frequencies no later than July 13, 2020. In addition, users of this device may be required to cease operations earlier than that date if their operations could cause harmful interference to a 600 MHz service licensee’s wireless operations on these frequencies. Most users do not need a license to operate this wireless microphone system. Nevertheless, operating this microphone system without a license is subject to certain restrictions: the system may not cause harmful interference; it must operate at a low power level (not in excess of 50 milliwatts); and it has no protection from interference received from any other device.
