Finger Control Surfaces

The FCS-8 Control Surface is a compact USB controller available in eight and twelve channel versions for Sound Devices 833, 888, and Scorpio eight-series recorders. It features rotary potentiometers for trims, dust-protected faders, and PFL controls for controlling individual recorder channels. as well as controls for record, stop, slate mic trigger, and a shortcut to arm or disarm tracks with LED indicators to report statuses.

The control surface provides the user with a potentiometer corresponding to the master fader, which can be assigned to any bus or output of the recorder. In addition, it has four controls that can be assigned to recorder functions, such as activating communications, monitoring, or assigning faders to buses or outputs.

The FCS-8 can be used in a bag and the eight channels make it particularly suitable for use with the 833 recorder. It has two 1⁄4” (not Kodak) screw threads close to the center of gravity, allowing the controller to be attached to an articulated arm, to the structure of a bag, or to the sliding shelf of a trolley.

The FCS-12's twelve channels make it particularly suitable for use with 888 and Scorpio recorders, as well as an 833 equipped with the 4+ plugin.

The control surface uses the MIDI MCU protocol, which makes it possible to use it with digital audio work software.
