The COMM/IFB Box by West End Recording accepts a mic-level XLR and mic/line TA5 signal and maps them to push switches to create an instant intercom, full IFB, or talkback system, It's available with either XLR5M or two TA3M outputs.
It's designed to answer those unexpected demands that come up on set, including talkback to talent or crew or a need for an extra preamp.
The COMM/IFB Box accepts two inputs: one mic-level XLR for a dynamic microphone and one mic or line level TA5 for a lavalier or audio input from a mixer. These two inputs are activated by push buttons on the front of the unit and can be set individually to either "momentary" (only on when pressed) or "latched" (push once to turn on and push again to turn off). These channels can also be ganged together so pushing one button activates both.
Each channel can also be set IFB mode independently. When in IFB mode, line-level audio connected to the TA5F input is routed to the outputs at full volume when the channel push button isn't engaged. When the channel push button is on, the line input is lowered by 15dB to allow the XLR3 mic input to be heard.
When IFB mode is off, no audio is passed when a channel push button is not engaged.
A switchable high pass filters reduces rumble, hum, and other low-frequency noises.
The COMM/IFB Box can be powered by 9V battery, 1.1mm external BDS power supply (cable not included), or phantom power with the PPS-01 or PPS-02 adapter (sold seperately.)
