Charon SDI Embedder/De-Embedder Rack Mount

The Charon 8R is a very simple 3G-SDI audio embedder/de-embedder rack mount unit with 2 x VAC mains power supplies for redundancy.

The incoming 3G-SDI has signal has audio channels 1-8 de-embedded and then embedded to Dante output channels 1-8. Incoming Dante channels 1-8 are embedded into 3G-SDI output

There are no controls on the Charon and audio is just passed simutaneously bi-directionally, one input to one output as above.  This simplicity of operation is intentional for situations where basic 3G-SDI audio embed/de-embed functions are required.

Network connections are fully redundant with primary and seconday connections via CAT5 copper Ethernet or fiber via primary and secondary SFP cages.

At this time, the Charon is 3G-SDI (SMPTE 424M) only, and 6G or 12G are not supported.

The SDI input and output is via 2 x 75ohm unbalanced BNC connectors.
