Astral Guitar Box

The Sound Devices Astral Guitar box is custom designed specifically to interface from the ARX16 or ARX32 receiver's balanced outputs to the unbalanced 1/4″ inputs of guitar amps and pedals. These balanced runs minimize noise pickup and ground loops, even over long runs. The Astral Guitar Box can be used in either direction to go XLR to 1/4″ or 1/4″ to XLR, allowing the run from guitar pedals to the amp run to be fully balanced as well.

At the heart of the Astral Guitar box is the Lundahl LL1540, one of the most highly-regarded transformers on the planet. Handcrafted in Sweden, this transformer features a massive amount of core material which allows it to do the unbalancing with very little distortion across its the entire 5Hz – 50kHz band. The Lundahl transformer is a true work of art, featuring electrostatic shields between every winding layer, and a full mu-metal shield around the coils. These features make hum and ground loops in a guitar system a thing of the past.
