Solving RF Challenges with Digital Wireless

Sunday, December 8, 2019 - 11:00am to 3:00pm

Join us on Sunday, December 8th from 11am-3pm at Encylomedia in Atlanta for Solving RF Challenges with Digital Wireless, a workshop on overcoming the challenges of using wireless microphones for film and TV and how digital wireless can help.

Topics will include:

  • The operating principles of radio transmission
  • The attributes and advantages of digital wireless systems
  • Antenna positioning for best results
  • Scans and interference identification and avoidance
  • How to correctly design wireless systems with coordination tools and techniques

We will also be discussing the Shure Axient Digital wireless set-up used to record Steven Spielberg's upcoming film of West Side Story - a production that required more than thirty channels of wireless operating in the very crowded RF spectrum of the New York metro area.

West Side Story production sound mixer Tod A. Maitland and other special guests will be on hand to answer questions.

If you want to bring a laptop with Wireless Workbench, you can follow along with the presentation. Wireless Workbench is available for free download from here for Mac or PC.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Admission is free, but it will help us plan if you RSVP on eventbrite or facebook.

If you use wireless for production, you'll want to be here!

Co-presented by Shure, HWPco, & Gotham Sound Atlanta.

Special guest Tod A. Maitland has been an audio professional in the film industry for more than 40 years and has been nominated for three Academy Awards in the Best Sound category. Films include The Irishman, Joker, Seabiscuit, Independence Day, National Treasure, I Am Legend, and The Greatest Showman.
