The new Professional Sound Corporation M3 Audio Mixer
offers the features required for today's ENG mixer. It combines rugged
construction, high quality componentry, and ease of use ergonomics in a compact
package. The M3 Mixer's headphone monitoring selections include Left to
both ears, Stereo, Right to both ears, Mono, Pre Fade Listen of channels 1,2 and
3 and MS Stereo as well as Tape returns from two Betacams.
The M3 Mixer's input panel includes: 3 XLR
transformer balanced inputs each with switchable "T", Dynamic or 48PH microphone
powering as well as 3way input pads D, C, L, (Dynamic 0dB Pad, Condenser -15dB
Pad, Line Level -50dB Pad). Also on this panel you will find the connection for
the Boom Pole mounted Remote Control Slide Fader and the headphone jack.
The M3 Mixer's outputs panel is loaded with
connections for your use. This includes: XLR transformer balanced outputs (mic
or line switchable), two BetaCam 10 pin Hirose connectors for use with Beta
snake cables (mic or line switchable), two Auxiliary outputs for transcription
or RF feeds (mic or line switchable), Ganging input and output connectors to
allow you to use two M3 mixers tied together, External DC power Hirose
4pin (7 to 18vDC), and a convenient battery compartment that holds 6 x AA
batteries. While other mixers offer the ability to monitor from two cameras at
once, only the M3 gives you two 10 pin connectors. Why would anyone want to
have one betasnake made with a 10 pin and another with XLRs and a stereo mini?
Take a close look at that circuit board. It gives you a
good idea of the complexity and quality of the new M3 Mixer. We would
like you to especially note the size of the output transformers. These
represent properly designed, no compromise, dual isolated output transformers.
They are more than twice the size and weight of our competitors transformers and
they work better because of it. They are bullet proof in real world
applications. If you short circuit one of the outputs of these transformers you
will barely notice it on the remaining output. Try doing that with "other"
newly released mixers on the market.
