Updates firmware v1.2 (available end of September 2005)

WAN juggler™ fail-over. The Junxion Box supports wide area network (“WAN”) data service from wireless/cellular PC Card modems as well as a variety of options through Ethernet cable (e.g. T1, DSL, cable, office LAN, satellite…even other Junxion Boxes). With the WAN juggler feature, Junxion Box users can select a primary WAN connection (either PC Card modem or Ethernet). Then, if the primary connection fails, WAN juggler automatically routes data over the secondary WAN connection. When the primary service resumes, WAN juggler reverts back to the designated primary source.

WPA encryption for Wi-Fi. WPA2 encryption has been added to the Junxion Platform for enhanced security. Administrators can choose between WPA, 64 or 128-bit WEP, or no encryption for Wi-Fi connections. (Wi-Fi is only available with model JB-110b.)

DMZ to support more VPN clients. While the Junxion Box already supports common IPsec clients using the ESP protocol, a newly added DMZ host expands Junxion’s support for VPN clients using the AH protocol. When configured with the DMZ, all traffic routes to a DMZ host without changing the header IP address.

MAC address restriction. Now administrators can manage access to the Junxion Box with a MAC address allow list. Only devices added to the MAC address allow list can connect with the Junxion Box.

Port restrictions for WAN traffic. With this feature administrators can restrict the type of traffic allowed over the WAN by blocking specific ports. For example, the Junxion Box can be configured to restrict web traffic, POP3 email, or specific types of streaming media.

Dynamic DNS (DDNS) client. The new on-board DDNS client allows administrators to locate the public IP address of the Junxion Box. Even if the cellular carrier assigns the WAN card a dynamic IP address, the Junxion Box and any connected clients can be located, accessed, and configured remotely.

New quick setup page in the Device Manager. This start page allows administrators to start using the Junxion Box after just two clicks. It’s now even easier to get started for most Junxion Box applications.

Fully customizable splash screen. The splash screen is an existing option that greets users when they connect to the Junxion Box and open their browser. In addition to the existing splash page creation template, Junxion Box administrators can now upload their own HTML directly into the Device Manager.

Expanded help resources. The Device Manager now offers help tags next to key features, complementing the User Guide as a self-help resource for Junxion Box administrators.

More data cards. Junxion is continually adding support for new PC Card modems, like the new Audiovox PC5740 (1xEV-DO), and UMTS/HSDPA models that will soon be available through Cingular Wireless.
