Manufacturer's Description
The En2 is the successor to the Envoy system, the first system produced specifically for the ENG market and launched with the philosophy that it should be easy to set up, easy to use, compatible with the most popular types of ENG cameras then available and competitively priced. The new system stays true to that thinking but incorporates all the lessons learned from user feedback.

The En2 is a non-diversity system, which is standard use on the newer hand-held ENG cameras. It has a 24MHz switching bandwidth and a scan facility on the receiver which takes the guesswork out of searching for a free channel. The MX non-diversity receiver has selectable balanced line level and headphone level outputs. In the camera application, the receiver output is set to balanced line output but, switched to the alternative setting, it can be used as a high quality IEM (in ear monitoring) receiver with an adjustable headphone level output.

The units are engineered with aluminium casing to be robust and with added features not normally found on systems of this type: a professional SMA aerial socket on both the receiver and transmitter; a standard 3.5mm locking jack; and the En needs only one AA battery per unit giving up to 5 hours of continual use.

The factory default settings will accommodate most situations ENG teams are likely to encounter. However, the En2 is very user friendly even when making adjustments. Built into both the transmitter and receiver is a state of the art emissive OLED that displays a series of quick help menus which will allow users to set up the En2 by making a series of ‘either/or’ choices. It’s so simple to operate, we’re confident that a new user could get the system up and running without ever reading the user manual.

Th En also performs very well as an in ear monitoring system The lightweight receiver has two modes - camera mode and headphone mode. In camera mode it provides line level balanced output. Switching to headphone mode will drive a set of headphones, or earpieces so program sound could, for example, be sent to the director and the boom operator on location.

FCC Consumer Alert
Most users do not need a license to operate this wireless microphone system. Nevertheless, operating this microphone system without a license is subject to certain restrictions: The system may not cause harmful interference; it must operate at a low power level (not in excess of 50 milliwatts); and it has no protection from interference received from any other device. Purchasers should also be aware that the FCC is currently evaluating use of wireless microphone systems, and these rules are subject to change. For more information, call the FCC at 1–888–CALL–FCC (TTY: 1–888–TELL–FCC) or visit the FCC's wireless microphone Web site.

If you're a licensed Part 74 operator, you may continue to use 50mW and greater wireless systems under certain conditions. Eligible parties include a person or organization engaged in the production or filming of motion pictures or television, so, to the best of our knowledge, this includes below the line crew. More information on also can be found here. To apply for a license, visit www.fcc.gov/Forms/Form601/601.html

If you have any questions about these usage restrictions, please give us a call at 1-866-GOTHAM-8 or e-mail info@gothamsound.com.
